Saboodana Khichdi Recipe



Saboodana khichdi is a very simple & delicious recipe that everyone can enjoy at any time of the day. Normally this dish is eaten mostly during the vrat's such as Navratri, Mahashivratri, Janmashtami or Ganesh Chaturthi etc. 

A quick and delicious Saboodana khichdi cooked with potatoes, peanuts, and basic spices create the most comforting meal out there. It's a vegetarian Indian snack for fasting.


Preparation time: 4 hrs
Cooking time: 15-20  mins

Serving: 2-3


INGREDIENTS:

Soaked Saboodana (sago) 1 cup
Potato 1 medium sized
Peanuts ¼ cup
Chopped Coriander 1tbsp
Chopped green chilies 1tsp
Cumin seeds (jeera) ½ tsp
Rock salt (Sendha Namak)
Desi ghee/ Oil 1tbsp


Method:

Step 1
Soak the Saboodana for 2- 3 hrs. or overnight according to your Saboodana type.

Step 2
Wash the Saboodana well in running water till all the starch is washed off.

Step 3
Drain in a strainer and set aside for 2 hrs. so all the water drain away.

Step 4
Peel the potato and cut into small pieces.

Step 5
Heat the ghee in a pan and add the jeera.

Step 6
Allow the jeera to splutter and add the green chilies.

Step 7
Saute for10 seconds and add the potatoes fry the potatoes and cook till half done and add the peanuts.

Step 8
Fry the peanut is also.

Step 9
Add the drained saboodana and salt and toss well till the saboodana turns transparent (almost 4-5 mins.)

Step 10
Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander.

Some Notes:


You can add boil potato also.
If you are not using this recipe in fast, in that case, you can add onion also.
And you can also use Karri patta when you add jeera.
In the end, you can use lemon juice also & mix well.
If you are using tomatoes in vrat then add it.
